Yale-New Haven Hospital Smilow Cancer Center
Yale-New Haven Hospital, the largest health care provider in the New Haven and a leading hospital nationwide, constructed the $500 million Smilow Cancer Center, which opened in fall of 2009. Smilow Cancer Center is located in a new 497,000 s.f. facility, which supports clinical care and cancer research. The existing Yale Cancer Center is an acknowledged leader in cancer care. The facility is one of just 39 designated cancer centers by the National Cancer Institute. Approximately 350 construction jobs were created and permanent hirings are on track towards the projected 600 new jobs creatd the new Cancer Center. In addition to jobs creation the project is expected bring to New Haven a State PILOT of $1.5M/year.
